App Merges 24th Century Technology into 21st Century Mobile Device

SAN FRANCISCO – July 11, 2011 – CBS Interactive today announced the launch of the official STAR TREK PADD app, based on the iconic television franchise. The STAR TREK PADD (Personal Access Display Device) app provides fans with the ultimate mobile "Trekker" experience. The app features an authentic reproduction of the LCARS interface—the fictional computer operating system depicted in the STAR TREK television series—as well as a rich, interactive database of STAR TREK television series information, including images and an episode guide. The STAR TREK PADD app is now available for $4.99 in the App Store.

Added Today: All New Theatre Posters and Desktops of Kirk and Spock

The Countdown to the launch of the new Full-length Star Trek Trailer has begun and with it begins a new marketing campaign, starting with Today the release of the Star Trek Posters that will be gracing theatres across the world of Kirk and Spock.

The design is simple and understated, without the Movies Title featuring and in black and white.

But we are told this is just the beginning, just teaser posters.

Next Monday 17th November, the Full-trailer will be released online across the internet, and we'll bring it to you here on Star Trek Trivia.com.

Rumour Mill: Trek Movies Coming to Blu-ray 2009

According to Sources at TrekMovie.com plans are in motion to release the first 6 Original Series Star Trek Movies to Blu-ray in conjunction with the release of the new movie in May,2009.

Rumours are that all six will feature brand new remastered audio tracks and remastered film, although STAR TREK - THE MOTION PICTURE will not feature the extended version due to the fact that all the extended cut CG effects were produced in 480p and would have to be redone for HD release.

Paramount have yet to confirm this rumour so keep watching, but this is a significant move since it was decided to abandon HD DVD, which Paramount had adopted as there prefered HD format, and finally go with the popular Blu-ray.

Finally Trek is coming to Blu-ray but still no news yet on any of the 5 Tv Series's, of which the Remastered Original Series and ENTERPRISE are already in HD format just waiting to be released.
